Now if Brantley and Tucker are better we should be ready for the Aā€™s and Yankmeā€™s

Per this article,

ā€¦so he will remain with the Astrosā€™ Triple-A club.

For how long?
At what point will he become a free agent?

He wonā€™t unless heā€™s cut. Heā€™ll be eligible for the rule 5 draft in December if heā€™s not re-added to the 40-man

If a team claimed Martes, would he cost them a slot on their 40-man?
But if he is a Rule 5 draft, wouldnā€™t he cost at least $25K or $50K and a slot on the 25-man?
Could any team give him a workout b/t end of AAA season and the Rule 5 draft?

If a team claimed Martes, would he then be on their 40-man at no cost? [/quote]

No

Thank you, Doyce7!

Iā€™m fairly certain Martes will be a minor league free agent this fall. And I see little chance of him returning to the Astros.

Looking it up, I think you are probably right

So, a minor league free agent would not require a 40-man slot - while a waiver claim would?
Thank you, Walt Bond!

Everybody is back! (except Bregman, of course)

Jones optioned back to SL; J Smitty activated. Hereā€™s to hoping he can regain some semblance of his 2018-19 form.

37-yo RPs can totally return to form after a full year off, right? Right??

Sure they can.

Sure.

Now letā€™s sit on the porch and take our meds, mā€™kay?

Iā€™ll bet he can because of his unique delivery. He depends on location and movement, not stuff, so thatā€™s something to watch.
