Fine but a little funny looking, IMHO. Apparently he worked hard on it in the offseason.
My hunch is his spate of lazy sidearm chucking errors from shallow right last year led to his postseason issues and he still isn’t completely natural.
Odorizzi’s line for his debut: 1ip, 6h, 7r, 7er, 2bb, 1k, 4hr.
I know, it’s just spring training and his first outing, but yikes.
If the offense is going to hit like this behind him, I’ll take it.

I kind of felt this coming simply because the hitters are what, 30-35 days ahead of him?? Looked good fanning Soto on three pitches.
I read his comments. He is not concerned.
I haven’t fully bought into the Luis Garcia hype train just yet. But I’ve gotta say it’s a bit easier to get excited about the guy after yesterday: he threw an immaculate inning as part of a 4IP, 5K, 0R outing. You can watch all 9 pitches right here.

Cishek has been granted his release from his minor league contract. Guess they have to save that $2M that they won’t give Correa anyway
Damn, I thought he would make the team. I guess he thought he would not. He asked to be released. After his first outing, he pitched well.
Dumb comment from me coming. Maybe the Astros will take the $4 million combined in Souza and Cishek and try to bring Reddick back on a 1-year deal. He isn’t great - but he has to be better than Siri and McCormick and Meyers as #4 outfielder.

Best guess is they’ll keep that cap space free so they can add someone at the deadline.

I think signing a guy whose skills clearly have been taken away by age is a bad idea. We are talking about a 4th OFer here, not an every day cleanup hitter. A young guy who can play defense in the late innings and hit a little is all the job requires.

Coach, do we have a guy that can ‘hit a little’? Spring Training is Spring Training, but the results to date are less than encouraging.

Depends on your definition of “a little.” Marisnick was considered a HOF 4th OFer around here, and he did not hit much.
The Yankees were afraid to pitch to him in the ALCS, LOL.
