Are you talking to me about Straw?
Yes.
Not as much power as Marisnick. Could be a better hitter for average. Depends on how he views himself and what he tries to do/be. I think he could help the team and himself some offensively if he tries to get on base and to be a line drive hitter.
Jake back for a year would suit me, but I am ok with Straw if we cannot acquire a defense-first veteran.
Not a bad pick up, actually. Berryhill is an athletic catcher whom the Reds thought highly enough to sign as a Redshirt Sophomore out of South Carolina in 2019 (13th round and an over slot bonus).
Is he related to Damon Berryhill?
No.
I was trying to find a comparison to Straw in the Astros past.
Brian Hunter? I hope not, he was awful in the field.
Is a right-handed Michael Bourn too much to ask for?
Would we be happy if he ends up a right-handed Gerald Young?
Shoot, I do not know. He was a AAA with some skills when I saw a lot of him.
I look at it this wayā¦weāre swapping Springerās bat for Alvarez and Straw for Reddickās. If Straw can give us 75% of what he gave us in ā19, itās probably a wash. Not bad at all offensively. Defensively Iām not sure. Reddick was still damn good in the field last year. I know Straw is fast but is he a good OF?
Hunter was a pretty good defensive outfielder.
Iād be perfectly fine with another Michael Bourn.
Nothing about Hunterās play sticks in my memory. I just looked it up for reference and noticed he had more errors than assists ( 22 - 20) in about 1 1/2 seasons worth of innings. And .960 was his best fld pct ( not that that is definitive)
Donāt know his stats. I remember him as being perfectly fine defensively. Of course, I could be wrong.
If you throw Eric Yelding and Chuck Carr with Brian Hunter and Gerald Young, you have all the starting CFers of the 90s except the only two whose production I would love to have, Finley and Everett.
Defensively I think Straw can be a good center fielder but he has a lot of work to do to improve his reads and routes. Obviously, his closing speed is top of the line.
Regarding outfielders defense, I have my concerns about Tucker in RF. He has a lot to improve on.
Damn, Eric Yielding is a great comp offensively.
Tucker seems lackadaisical at times. But it is what it is. Iām good with Straw in cf
He seems dizzy at other times.
I hope Straw doesnāt turn into Glen Barker.
Granted, but Iāll take Yelding on defense.
Was it Barker or Carr who prompted, āfeets, donāt fails me now!ā
