The Tarantino impression is my favorite.
âDadâs deadâ is one of my favorite sitcom moments ever.
I donât know how i didnât realize he played Burt Reynolds in celebrity jeopardy.
He was great.
Turd Ferguson will live forever.
Whaddayawant?
I saw a tweet yesterday from a member of the band recalling that joke.
Richard Kirk of the seminal Manchester post-punk / industrial group Cabaret Voltaire died several days ago. Iâll always remember hearing âSlugginâ Fer Jesusâ for the first time and being absolutely blown away.
Dr. Lonnie Smith has died today. A master of the jazz-funk organ, he was aged 79.
*Slugginâ Fer Jesus is over 40 years old and just as topical, sarcastic, and edgy as when it was released. I was at Texas Tech at the time and my group of friends and I had to mail order music from Rough Trade in San Francisco to get anything other than metal, country, or disco and these â3 Crepuscule Tracksâ were our introduction to Cabaret Voltaire.
Cabaret Voltaire were highly influential to Joy Division and others of the era.
Fucking classic song
Ray Fosse, whose career was just about ruined by Pete Rose, died today at 74. He was a close friend of Gordon Lakey, and we had breakfast with him one day in Scottsdale. Fosse had not gotten over what happened even a little bit.
Sorry to hear that. I knew he was not well, but didnât know he was this close to the end.
Fosse is one of those âwhat ifsâ about which fans of that era will argue incessantly.
Rest In Peace Ray.
And yet another reason to tell Pete Rose to go fuck himself.
Wow. He did quite a bit of the color commentary for the Aâs radio and television broadcasts. Blatant bias towards the Aâs, but I will also admit that he was quite good in his role. Had a lot of great insights about hitting and catching (especially). On the latter, he excoriated catchers who werenât good defensively and was always impressed by Maldonado.
