Nice play by Castro
Yeah, Iām not sure that all catchers figure out that theyāve got time to improve the angle on that play.
Rule question:
Bat on the field of play in the catcherās path to ball (not exactly what happened here but hypothetically).
Can the batter be called out?
It would be nice if the Astrosā offense got its head out of its collective ass this inning.
Normally you move to the inside of the baseline and not have to throw across and in front of the runner.
Itās really special to see Sanchez back there spastically unframing pitch after pitch.
Hey, heās the greatest catcher in the history of the universe. The Yankees wouldnāt tolerate anything less.
It would be easier to understand if they were facing Pedro Martinez.
It depends. If the batter tosses his bat and contacts a fair ball, itās a dead ball, the batter is out for interference and no runners may advance. If the batter drops his bat and the ball subsequently rolls into the bat, if there was no intent to interfere, itās a live ball. If the batter drops his bat and the catcher trips over it, tough shit, itās a live ball. If a thrown ball hits a bat out in front of the plate, tough shit also. This is one reason a catcher should try to kick the bat out of the way if he anticipates a throw to the plate.
Itās kind of odd to find oneself hoping the Yankees will bring Chapman in.
Pretty crappy breaking ball gets rolled thru for a shiftfuck DOUBLE.
Why does this game feel hopeless? Abreu needs a k
Because two runs is out of our reach, much less three.
Oh yes of little faith! Four runs on the other hand . . .
Fall from ahead, hang a slider, double the deficit.
This all started with a 1 out, 5 pitch walk to Gardner.
Heās struggling mightily.
Runner easily steals third.
Castro save a run (for now).
Heās been inconsistent all season. Stuff is there, command is not.
Dammit.
Toro made a great stop and an awful throw.
Again.
