BREAKING NEWS
To quote HH: āOld Man smack never gets old.ā
I give all the credit in the world to the Braves, but damn, I feel like Dusty peed Game 4 and 6 down his leg with his pitching choices. Maybe Iām just bitter.
On the brighter side, a good friend (and Braves fan) I havenāt talked to in years emailed me to talk some smack. Put a smile on my face.
It was a great season, thanks for hanging with me!
I have zero idea how you could possibly think that.
He went with what was successful throughout the playoffs and World Series until it was obvious the offense raised the white flag (which technically was in the top of the 4th, but really it was after it was 5-0).
Unless Nolan Ryan was hanging out in the bullpen and none of us knew about it, rearranging the deck chairs wasnāt going to stop the ship from going down.
So the two games where they scored a total of 2 runs youāre pinning on the pitching?
I would have started Urquidy last night, but the Astros were not going to score if they played 100 innings.
I didnāt like his bringing in everyone backwards in Game 4. Stanek in the 5th, Javier in the 8th? I donāt remember him doing that before.
Also, I thought starting Garcia on short rest was a huge mistake, assuming Urquidy was available.
Youāre probably right though, Iām just trying to latch on to something to make the bitter pill go down easier.
No argument on the offense. What else would reduce my bitterness? Alcohol? Drugs? Getting a FUCK FACE tattoo on my schlong?
The offense was shut out.
Twice.
If you can get it all on there, Iād say your bitterness is unwarranted
The place to get the tattoo is listed in the tattoo
I agree with the Stanek/Javier wrong decision, but only in retrospect. To that point, Javier had been lights out in the playoffs, and it was pitch selection and location, not who was throwing them, which caused our heartbreak. As to the starter last night, Tweedledum and Tweedledee to me, but I agree with HH. The offense was dead from the get go, and it is hard to win with no runs.
Really itās all about the font. They make them needles pretty fine. You can get small print with the right artist
Canāt win without scoring runs
But that has nothing to do with whether pitching decisions were right or wrong.
How does Odorizzi not pitch again after 2 1/3 innings only 1 baserunner, 0 runs, and 5 Ks in game 1?
And I also think Urquidy would have been the better choice for game 6.
At least have a shorter leash for Garcia. Start someone warming to start 3rd and pitching change as soon as a hitter reaches.
Then start 4th with Odorizzi who can get you to the 6th.
Anyway. That might not have worked either.
And none of that puts runs on the board.
Second guessing is so easy for those who have not done it. Even easier after runs are on the board. Pitching decisions would not made a shred of difference last night.
Well, since weāre doing this:
I was too young to cry in '80, but I could tell my dad was pissed.
I cried my eyes out in 86, from the mezzanine to the parking lot and most of the way home.
I was sure we had a WS run in '98. '99/01 were just teasers.
'04/05/16ā¦just teased me more
Then We Won.
Jeebus we played like shit in the WS.
I know we took 2 in this one, but we played better in 2005
I was younger in ā86 and I took it harder. Now itās meh, whereās my fiber? We donāt score, we donāt deserve to win if you padded Scott, Johnson, Ryan, and Verlander.

Get off of Jimās lawn.
No, we hit like shit.
