World Series Game 4: Astros vs Everyone

He won’t be around long enough to matter, like last night.

3.60 in 20 innings. High strikeout guy. The Braves will hope for 30 or so pitches from him. That could be four hitters, that could be three innings.

I was not nervous last night, even during the game. The end came too quickly and unexpectedly. I am nervous as hell tonight.

I was nervous as hell last night. I am not tonight, for whatever reason, at all. Perhaps I’m too tired, perhaps the futility of my anxiety is realized. For what it’s worth, the last important game where I was completely calm was Game 7 in 2017. Take that for whatever it’s worth.

I was on edge, but not nervous. I thought Javier would handle 7-8-PH, then it would be Pressly v top of the lineup. I wished then and now it had been Stanek, even if the result were the same.

I’ve fully embraced the impending void, and am fully expecting to lose 5-2 or so.

I am, however, doing everything I can to provide some mojo.

Sipping on a Houston Haze from Spindletap as we speak(type).

Tonight will be what it will be. I still have to get up and go to work in the morning.

I got thinking today…I was heartbroken in 2019. The Astros got down in that Series and fought their way back into it, all the way to a few outs from winning it all, only to have it snatched by an unlikely chain of events. It was crushing. This year, I’m just disappointed. Disappointed because it’s been there for the taking and they just haven’t taken it. I’m not saying they are not trying or do not want to win, but there has been no fight in this team this World Series, certainly not like there was in 2017 or 2019. I’m just disappointed in them.

This World Series has been a special flavor of soul crushing after what felt like a miracle switch flip on the brink of disaster against the Red Sox.

I never in a million years would’ve believed you if you’dve said our pitching was going to be great and our batters were going to shit themselves.

They look spent, like the Red Sox series went 7 games, with four games going to extra innings and the last one ending on a walkoff in the bottom of the 19th…

Nothing-not 1980, not 1986, not 1998, not 2004, not 2005-hurt me like 2019. Not even close.

Give up 2-2-3 runs and win 1 game. Never would have thought it possible

Yep, we should be up 3-1, not down.
