That. Just. Happened.
For the Greater GoodâŚ
My brother last Nov 26.
Three Dominicans, a Puerto Rican, and a Texan honky combine for a WS no hitter.
Maybin was one of my favorites in 2017. He was a great addition and helped that team win.
No one will agree, I know, but Iâd start Mancini today. I still think he will come through for this team. If he looks helpless in his first AB, sub Hensley.
Small sample size but Trey is 0-3 against Syndergaard with a pair of Kâs although he likely only faces him a single time as I doubt Thor goes that long. Thatâs where it gets trickyâŚif he looks bad in his first AB is it because he doesnât see him well or still in a funk.
I like Mancini (as do most) and he has some crazy pop in that bat that I was hoping would be unleashed in the playoffs. Dustyâs hunches usually pay off (although more on the pitching side) so weâll see. I expect weâll see Hensley though but maybe Trey gets a shot pinch hitting.
Yeah, I am not saying Mancini has done anything to earn it. Just saying what I would do.
Thatâs the tough thing. Diaz hasnât either. So Iâm fine with whatever.
I guess Mancini did have the sac fly rbi in the ALCS.
And before we all start clamoring for Hensley we should recall that we were all clamoring for Mancini not too long ago.
Past performance/future results etc.
I did feel for Mancini last night watching him celebrate (although it was low key) thinking he wants to contribute in the worst way and nobody feels worse about his performance than he does. I hope he gets a shot and makes it count.
These guys take it to heart for sure.
I know JV and Lance are torn up inside about their performances.
Diaz and Mancini too.
Tonight will be very interesting because it will be the first time this entire playoffs that the pressure is squarely on the Phillies. They won the first game against the Cards, Braves, Padres, and of course us so it will be interesting to see how they respond, after a no-hitter no less.
I do agree with you Jim.
I still like him and think he has one big memorable PA still to come as an Astro.
Hopefully its tonight.
Hensley has done well in very limited opportunities but I like his versatility off the bench.
Canât we DH Vasquez?
I know we have no other backup catchers on the roster after Vasquez but he is clearly a much better bat than anyone else we have had at DH during the playoffs.
If Vazquez is the DH but later has to catch for Maldonado, the pitchers would have to hit. There would be no noticeable dropoff in production from that spot in the order.
You could also pinch hit with Mancini, Diaz, Hensley, or Dubon.
Yeah, but I thought the idea was that we didnât want those guys hitting.
