I too would like to see Hensley get some AB’s. I would have sent him up there instead of Diaz.
Regarding the Diaz at bat, I didn’t care for what he did trying to get hit to get on base. I understand that getting to first loads the bases and a walk drives in the tying run, but to me Diaz’s action says a lot about his mindset up there. I could be wrong with this line of thinking, but to me, with the game on the line and a chance to be a hero, my whole mindset up there should be driving the baseball. To lean in and try to get hit, just to me in that situation, says he wasn’t confident in his ability to get a hit. Again, I might be wrong with that line of thinking, but it was my first thought as soon as I saw him lean in.
It was a bad managing clinic. I feel a little like Lou Brown…”this guy has managed a long time and had some really talented teams, how come he’s never won a World Series….Oh.”
I am normally super excited to wake up and get a college football Saturday going. This morning, I feel numb. I barely slept. I still connot believe the lunacy that occurred last night. I’m just dumbfounded by the “managing” of that game. I hope that there was a real come together either last night or is happening today. That just cannot happen at this point in the season. It just can’t.
No, we need you and all the rest here to stay the course. I’m as let down and pissed off as the next guy but this is a bad ass team we have here and there’s no reason we can’t go out there and kick their asses the rest of the way! We have to have faith!
Get Hensley in the lineup…tell Altuve we don’t need a fucking HR every time he comes to the plate and give me pound the zone Framber and we’ll be 1-1 when we wake up tomorrow morning.
Not sure I would have used Brown when Garcia was put in either. To me, using Pressly for one more inning or Stanek made the most sense. But bottom line, Verlander screwed this game up. 5 runs with your ace on the mound should be enough to get the job done. Once he had a big lead, he wasn’t the same pitcher. Not time to panic just yet. Tonight is an absolute must win though.
Make sure you give some credit to the offense for this loss as well. A 5 spot is awesome but to not even scratch out one more run the rest of the way is tough.
