haggle haggle haggle!
There was a Jamaican place here in Tampa, Cephas’, who’s specialty was curry goat. I’m not sure where he sourced them but I would not be surprised if he raised them himself.
It’s the time of year when I remember that there are only two things that money can’t buy.
I know one is forgiveness of a blood debt from the Russian mob.
What’s the other?
ok then, three things. there are three things that money can’t buy. The other two are true love and homegrown tomatoes.
“That’s true love and homegrown tomatoes”
Eat ‘em with eggs or eat ‘em with gravy, though personally I think the first line, with bacon and lettuce, may be the best.
There used to be a Saturday morning garden show on one of the Austin AM stations, they chose that song to play as their theme song, and for some ungodly reason, the John Denver version, not the Guy Clark original version. In Austin!
So we’re having a Caprese salad with our homegrown tomatoes and basil.
Our first cucumber thrown in the picture for fun.
Only four things that money can’t buy, that’s true love and homegrown tomatoes. And release from a Russian mafia blood debt. And home grown cucumbers.
I’m ready, and it’s getting closer by the day. The first 2 things that usually happen are caprese salad and blt. Then come all the other uses…sliced cucumber/tomato/red onion/etc marinated salad is another favorite.
Not unexpected, but this is sad. Our peach and apricot trees will yield nothing, there’s still some hope for the plums.
Well, ratfarts. Fresh peaches is one of the best things about summer.
Yep, and i used my last jar of preserves and bag of frozen ones over the winter
I’d never heard of such a thing, but my brother picked up a couple of thick ribeyes at Central Market. This ranch is in East Texas somewhere and it’s the same concept - they use the waste after olives have been pressed for oil - that breweries and distilleries do. I’ve been on the waiting list for spent grain at Garrison Brothers for about 3 years.
We’re in the middle of frost season for grapevines. For better or worse, it’s been a warm Spring and we haven’t had any events.
Side bar, my partner Kara has a Master’s Degree from Penn State in Plant Pathology. Her work and research focused on plum pox virus (how it’s transmitted, which is by aphids). I’d never heard of it before we met but it’s apparently the most severe pest/disease for stone fruit.
Let’s talk about this tomorrow morning, because it’s better than the Astros
Any of you Austinites been to this place? I like that they decided to do different things outside of the regular BBQ
