We serve these at our place in Mexico. It’s usually one of the first things I ask for when we get there.
Can’t go wrong with Chile en Nogada (Davida) either!
Each time I see one of Rick B’s videos I tell myself I need to work thru some of his recipes.
His website is chock-full of great ones, never steered me wrong
Where in Mexico?
And, uh, when in Mexico?
Manzanillo. West coast, a couple of hours south of Puerto Vallarta. My wife’s family has a resort there. I just get to hang out from time to time.
I love that stretch of coast. Rent a jeep in PV and head south
Gleach just hangs out on the deserted beach, sanding an old wooden boat. It’s a long way from Shawshank.
First time I was there, we stopped off at the place where Predator was filmed, I geeked out on the waterfalls.
It’s a really nice area, but rarely visited by Americans. Most of our customers are Canadian or Mexican. I don’t mind that at all.
And HH, I’m way too pale for the beach. The resort has a golf course and four restaurants if you’re looking for me.
Just popped up on my phone:
The Reggae Cafe in Houston, around Westheimer/Chimney Rock was a great place back in the high school days. This one sounds better, it’s got a tire company star and everything.
The jerk store just called …
Coco the Monkey
No goat??
Mother Negril’s in St Louis was the best jerk chicken I ever had.
iirc, it’s difficult for restaurants to source. I love, love some bbq cabrito.
I miss the days when when my grandmother had a herd of 100+ spanish goats…we could pick out a couple and then…
I ate there last month. It was pretty good. Their pricing is a little stout, and very arbitrary. They looked at me as I ordered (counter ordering), and said “I can knock $6 off this one and $3 off of this other one.” For no apparent reason. Stick with the jerk.
Bargaining prices at a brick/mortar store isn’t a thing I’ve ever done before
They brought it up, not me. Made me think that they were embarrassed of the general pricing structure. Not sure though.
