What are you drinking, 2023…and 2024…and 2025...or pretty much ever?

Don’t know anything about the bourbon here, but this is a very pretty turntable…what is it?

It’s a Victrola Empire. It’s one of those cheap all-in-one jobs designed to look “vintage”. They’re not particularly well thought of, but are popular with people who just want to occasionally play a record or for decoration.

Yeah, it even has a tape deck on the side.

Weeeellll…Nevermind

I just said it was pretty

It has a vintagey look and takes a cool picture. I’ve never heard one, but like all all-in-one players, it can’t possibly sound very good. They get beat up on pretty good in the vinyl community, which has no shortage of pretentious blowhards, but hey, at least it get people listening to records.

I wonder what that’s like.

It’s kind of like an internet baseball forum, except people in the vinyl community have actual hands-on experience with the things about which they bloviate.

We have one. It looks good. It’s perfectly adequate for FM/AM, blue tooth, CDs, and cassettes.

What about listening to vinyls?

I sure do like to listen to vinyls.

Yeah boy nothing like sitting back in the easy chair, pouring a tall glass of box wine and spinning some vinyls.

Vinyls vinyls vinyls.

We are in the process of upgrading that department, but it is also perfectly adequate for vinyl in the sense that it sounds the same as the radio, bluetooth, CD or cassette options.

It looks good. The next one will look better.

I’m surprised you even bother with pouring the wine in a glass.

Why bother, it came in a perfectly good box

Planning on a bottle of Mike’s Semillon with the smoked turkey tomorrow. I have high expectations.

So mom’s making a pumpkin bread pudding for the bbq on Saturday (someone brought it to church last week and she loved it)…and my question is: what liquor would go better in the sauce and meld well with pumpkin, rum or bourbon? Or something else?

rum seems obvious.

I’m a well known rum guy, and that would be my choice, but bourbon would also work well. I’d say you can’t go wrong with either. Other than those, brandy would be an option. You could even try something like Applejack or Calvados.

With a regular southern bread pudding I always go with bourbon, but this is different.

My first thought was rum, and yall have confirmed it. Thanks!

I know that guy. You should probably lower those expectations.

But Kara hopes you enjoy the hell out of the Semillon mañana.

smoked turkey is the only way to fly

FYI they have a few Fine Disregard wines available at Vino and Vinyl in Sugar Land. Had a nice 2022 Spenker Vineyard Carignane last night. Music spinning was 1986 hits followed up by West Coast 90s rap. Interesting mix but it worked.
