WBC 2026

Watched a little of the Chechia - South Korea game last night. Shay Whitcomb had two bombs in his first 3 AB’s. The Chechia team was interesting. Well coached and executed. Decent hitting. The pitching appeard to be JuCo-level. Plenty of velocity but not a lot of movement. The South Korean team jumped out to an early 6-0 lead off of a 1st inning salami and a couple of runs in the 2nd since they were teeing off on the Chechian pitchers. They brought in a guy that was a bit more polished to shut them down for a couple of innings and the Chechian bats got to work, bringing the score to 6-3. You could see the Koreans perk up a bit and buckle down and then the differences in the teams became readily apparant. It was fun to watch a little baseball while running on the treadmill.

I wonder if Limey is at this Mexico-Great Britain game.

I sure wish we could ask him.

Takahashi, the pitcher for Brazil is having a hard time against the USA. 26 pitches. 2 runs, 2 on, 1 out top of the 1st.

And he gets out of the jam with no further damage.

Lucar Ramirez (Manny’s son) leads off with a homer to cut the lead in half.

What is Takahashi’s tie to Brazil? Is there a large Japanese community there as there is in Ecuador?

Acording to Wikipedia, he was born in São Paulo.

Well, that answers that.

Also from Wikipedia: Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there were 2 million Japanese descendants in Brazil, making it the country with the largest population of Japanese origin outside Japan.

Interesting. Thanks for the info!

Wtf? Now I’ve got a screen telling me this program is not available for streaming.

A 17 year old high schooler throwing up a zero against the US.

Try rooting for Panama and you’ll find out.

End of two and the Red Coats lead 1-0

Meanwhile Panama, batting in the top of the 8th, is leading Puerto Rico 2-1

Judge has to be one of the stupidest players of all time.

At the half, the Brits still lead the Americans 1-0

Not watching, but what play made you say that?
