Trade Deadline 2024

Crane has brought the Astros 2 Championships and 7 consecutive ALCS appearances. Anyone who doesn’t like the man for what he has done with this team is crazy. Best owner this team has ever had.

Why not? I’m not trying to be argumentative, I just don’t follow the thinking.

Shay Whitcomb is probably a keeper now that Will Wagner is gone. We are gonna need a 3rd baseman next year

Whitcomb is a future OF, per Dana

Thanks…

For some reason I pegged him at 3rd - has he even played there or am I making shit up?

They needed to get Verlander because in the previous offseason they had also failed to strengthen the starting pitching.

I’m crystal clear that the organization has a championship level rotation on the IL right now and that you couldn’t possibly predict that, but I think it’s pretty clear that prioritizing the bullpen over starters was, certainly in retrospect, a mistake.

Watch Zach Dezenzo – Slowed by injuries this year, but picking up where he left off last year.

Now is Will Wagner, Billy’s kid? Any word from them on this, if so?

He has mostly played the left side of the infield, but he has a pretty big frame and is not the quickest first-step-guy. Some time in the OF this year and seems to be doing fine. He may not be a gold glove candidate anywhere.

Eric Bruntlett slow? Or more like a Caminit frame w/o the arm/cat like qualities?

I don’t have any major issue with Crane, not like I had with previous owners or have with owners of other Houston based teams. And it’s plain that he is the best owner in Houston sports history by an immeasurable margin. I just wish he would hire exceptional GMs, which he has done, twice, and step back and let them do their jobs.

I would say more like Caminiti – in more ways than one.

Multiple starters were on the market for 4 months and the Astros didn’t care.

Dezenzo is the guy (even more than Melton) I don’t want to see get moved.

Ah, I see what you’re saying. What I’m saying is they probably should have.

I’m hearing reports Mariners have backed out of the Yandy Diaz sweepstakes.

Between Astros and Yankees.

$10M next year
$12 club option no buyout in 2026.

Played 106g at 3b in 2022, 6 there last year. Strictly 1b/dh this year.

Where would Jazz & Gleiber play if they take on Yandy?

Or are they interested in him at 1B only?

I’d much rather see Melton go than Dezenzo. Tools are great but he’s in AAA and has never put together consistently good performance in the minors.

No argument from me there. I would have, but I don’t run things. Shoulda coulda woulda’s mean nothing to the hand delt today, though.

Always wondered by they didn’t approach Wacha in the last year - he’s been pretty good here in KC
