That’s a by God miracle in and of itself

Nominated if there were such a thing.

You don’t want me to keep going, do you?

Imagine that. Jim Crane and Dana Brown know what they are doing.

Your call, not mine.

So, the Astros are getting a potential top-of-the-rotation starter for 17.5M or less in each of the next three seasons at the expense of two good prospects.

$17.5M per year is not getting you a frontline starter in free agency.

Another great and historic day in Astros history! We have been so damn fortunate to have been fans during this past decade. Still hard to believe how many great moments this team has given us. Truly the Golden Age of Astros baseball!

Thanks to Jim Crane for making it all possible.

One more issue fellas! JV has 250 wins. He can really make a run at 300 with our team…

Would absolutely love it if he retired an Astro with 300 wins and at least 3 WS rings!!!

That would be extremely unlikely.

True - if it could happen anywhere, it would be with us!!!

OMG, the Athletic put the Astros in the “Loses” category in their analysis of the overall trade deadline activity. It’s a laughable write up.

The vendetta continues

“Astros starters have been good” yeah if you exclude the last 6 weeks.

“Could have just signed Verlander in the offseason instead of giving up prospects” ok, sure. But what the fuck does that have to do with the fucking trade deadline? Not a goddamn thing.

The only fucking question should be, are you markedly better positioned, based on what you were trying to do, after the deadline than before? For the Astros, that answer is unequivocally, yes.

Who fucking cares? Let the hate flow through them.
I hope the Astros shove it up their collective asses and go back to back.

Signed him for $40 million a year? Yeah, sure. The lost prospects line makes me tired. If those two players do well, good for them. We got JV back for 2 1/2 years, and if we had to give up something to get a superstar, oh well.

JV is where he should be, and I could not be happier.

Check these “projections” for Clifford & Gilbert.
If they are timely, then it’s an amazing trade.
Any idea as to the source of the CBS evaluations?

Let’s take a look back at the first trade for Verlander in 2017. The Astros gave up Daz Cameron (# 9 Astros), Franklin Perez (#3 Astros/#46 overall) and Jake Rodgers (#11 Astros).

Perez had made it to AA with that Astros. He hasn’t pitched above Hi A with the Tigers and didn’t pitch in 2020 or 2021 due to injury. Still just 25 so there is a bit of time for him.

Cameron made his MLB Debut in 2020 and has appeared in 73 games between 2020 and 2022. This year in AAA for Baltimore he is hitting .275/.355/.482 at age 26. His career MLB war is -0.06

Rogers has had the best MLB impact of the trio. He debut in 2019 (35 games) and has appeared in games in 2021 (38 games) and 2023 (70 games). This year as Detroit’s primary catcher he is hitting .212/294/433. He has thrown out 20 of 61 stolen base attempts and has 14 passed balls with 9 of those coming in his 2019. He is a solid average MLB catcher.

Overall, three fairly highly rated prospects who have had minimal impact.

When you think of all the prospects traded since 2017. How many do you wish we still had? For me it is two - Josh Hader & Joe Musgrove - out of a BUNCH of prospects.

And the return on Musgrove was undeniably high.

Hader is the only mistake on the outgoing side in that time.
