I am too, but I’m interested to see what they do with the rotation. I think it is very important to go to a 6 man rotation, or stay with a 5 man and skip over a pitcher each time through. We need to slow down the innings count on Javier, Brown and France.
You don’t get a chance to go back-to-back very often. Glad we are pushing the chips to the center. I’d still like another bat, but me happy happy.

I’m hoping we find a way to use Julks or Meyers in a deal to get another bullpen arm…or to get a prospect.

You also can’t have enough pitching. Getting a shot in the arm for 2023 while having six viable rotation options (with McCullers and Garcia’s potential mid/late season return as wildcards) is a really good thing.

I just looked at the MLB list … Top six are (were) OF. Still left are Melton, Barber, Leon & Dirden with seven more in the 13-21 range. So yeah.
This is almost as close as you can get to a sign-and-trade in MLB. I imagine the Mets are sending back enough money to bring the JV cost commitment down to what the Astros were willing to stomach back in the offseason.
After last night’s Stanek outing and Pressly already matching his 2022 innings count, I wouldn’t mind another good bullpen arm.

That we have not heard anything about money yet is starting to make me nervous this is just a player swap. The Scherzer dollars were immediately known.

Surely we got money and a pretty decent amount of it. I’m guessing will be ranked in the top 100 by the middle of next season.
The athletic is saying that JV is coming with some (currently unknown) amount of cash.
Crane helped though.

I’m not worried about the money. It’s not mine. Last time I checked, we need starting pitching. Our bullpen is exhausted because of it. In Dana we trust. ( Crane too). This changes everything. The Hall of Famer is back and pitching like one.

My cousin, who is employed by a NL Team, stated that the Astros are still pursuing upgrades. His Team is interested in RHP Rhett Kouba and OF Jacob Melton. Discussions with the Astros are ongoing.
