Trade Deadline 2023

Like is said a couple of days ago, Verlander > Scherzer. Suck it, Rangers.

As said before, I do not mind losing Gilbert to get JV as long as we keep Brown.

Schwab says Loperfido

Gilbert was a given

The 2nd will be whoever the Mets feel has the highest ceiling.

I actually read Leon, but I have no idea if the guy posting is anyone

Loperfido makes more sense.

Trade hurts but I’m happy.

Yep.

Does not hurt me.

Now that we have the starter we needed so desperately, I wonder if we are done???

I think both have good upside, but neither is a lock. And there are others with similar potential.

I bet we are not yet done unless folks in the front office really think Brantley is going to be good to go at some point.

Good to see him back. He’s familiar with team and pitching staff. Wonder what we absorb financially, and how long can we keep him?

He’s under contract through 2025. I don’t imagine he’ll pitch past then, so…the rest of his career, I’m guessing.

I believe JV will be under contract with us next year and possibly 2025 if he reaches 140 innings next year.

Clifford is the second player

Nightengale says Clifford & Gilbert. We’ll see.

Damn!!! Gilbert and Clifford. That hurts….but we do have JV. Mets better be giving us a shitload of cash.

Agreed. Verlander jams the window open a little longer, and will almost certainly contribute more to the 2023-2025 teams than Gilbert would have.

Wonder how much of his salary the Mets are eating.

Still have heard both Clifford and Loperfido. No confirmation.

Either way its a win

Prospects are just that, prospects. They haven’t seen a major league pitch. Justin Verlander is a hall of famer. Do that deal every time.
