Deadline deals for the selling team is more about having something to sell to fans than it is about actual value. Like for the White Sox, they can say hey we traded this reliever for our future catcher
If the message is we got more total value over the next 5 years, who cares that it’s mostly spare parts you look bad to your fanbase

Verlander is still an ace. I hope Houston finds a way to get a deal done. I read where at least Scherzer is unhappy with the steM for trading their closer.

This move by the Rangers doesn’t strike any fear in my heart or alarm me. I don’t think our hitters will be alarmed by it either. He isn’t having some Cy Young season and has an ERA of 4 and one of the highest WHIP’s he’s had in years.
It will be interesting though to see how Crane and Brown react to this. Do they go get the best pitcher they can or a left handed bat???
