Trade Deadline 2022

Yeah, could be. I have not seen any games since my trip began July 6. Castro’s injury came at a bad time.

They’re all playing like they’re worn out mentally. Hopefully the break will recharge their batteries.

This is part of it. He caught over 1,000 innings last year (second in the league) and almost 600 so far this year (third), at basically 36 years old (he’ll turn 36 in a few weeks). He’s gotta be feeling it.

I said it earlier and I’ll say it again. No to that selfish dick Benintendi and his unvaccinated ass. I’ve been jabbed four times and not one side effect. I also shared a bed with my wife for a week while she had covid and I didn’t get it. Freedom to infect the public is not freedom. It’s stupidity.

I am not for enforcing this vaccine. I am part of the pfizer study. there have been a few side effects from what the nurses told me, i asked. Only bad questions are the ones you don’t ask. It is also not a vaccine, per se, from what MD’s have said. My mom is vaccinated, and has a mild case at the moment. Checked up on her yesterday. I have known a few people infected after being vaccinated with different varieties of vaccine. I have no problem with getting the vaccination.

Why don’t you stop this? You make no sense, ever.

I calls em as I sees em.

You must be blind in that case.

Let me find my seeing eye dog. This is america last I checked. You may not agree with me, or I with you. However we can agree to disagree.

You do not have opinions anyone can read. You type gibberish.

I disagree but without agreement.

So there.

I’m starting to think he is either, some kind of devious spy; speaking in some kind of code language to someone who checks out OWA to get the secret coded messages, or he’s an idiot. And maybe real high too.

I think you are right about this. I let my my baseball fan brain supersede my citizen brain.

Take away the citizen brain for a minute. Let’s say Toronto makes the playoffs and faces the Astros in a playoff series, Benintendi can’t play in the games in Canada. There have to be better targets if Brantley’s shoulder doesn’t get right.

What would you guys think of Rhys Hoskins?

The Phillies are in position to make a playoff run that the front office desperately needs.

They are holding on despite Bryce Harper out, limited pitching, and terrible defense.

One of their starters Zac Eflin has a bad knee and is not progressing like the team hoped.

They really only have 2 above average SP and the rest of the rotation is very suspect.

They have Castellanos and Schwarber as corner OF so you know their CF is busy !!! And likely tired.

Schwarber played 1B for Boston last year and can take over there from Hoskins.
They also have a young 1B/DH type Daric Hall who has done well in small sample.

They are also 6th in MLB in runs scored so can afford to give up a producer.

I suggest sending McCormick and Odorizzi or Urquidy to the Phillies for him.

McCormick is league average hitter so not much drop off but far superior defender.

Obviously Urquidy or Odorizzi improves thectotation instantly becoming their #3 starter.

And Hoskins has another year of control.

He is a part time rotational bat for this year and can play 1B next year.

The Phillies will want more than McCormick, won’t want Odorizzi and if you’re trading two players from your MLB roster, it needs to be for a CF not 1B. Yuli is going to be the 1B the rest of this season unless he gets hurt.

You are probably right about what Philly would want but both teams are in the playoff hunt so trades for prospects would not be a priority.

I still feel that there is a match here.

Philly needs pitching and defense which is what the Astros have to offer.

And I’m not suggesting that Hoskins becomes the starter.

I would suggest

1B: 70% Yuli, 30% Hoskins
DH: 50% Alvarez, 40% Hoskins, 10% Brantley
LF: 55% Brantley, 45% Alvarez

But a big bat like his will significantly lengthen the lineup and deepen the bench.

They may need pitching and defense but do they value pitching and defense?

I think he gets drunk and posts or is having a series of stokes. Just a fucking idiot is a possibility.

So 3 rehab starts (possibly) for McCullers by the trade deadline. He’ll need 1-2 more before he’s ready to be activated but the Astros should have a good idea of where he stands by Aug. 2. Let’s say all signs at that point are positive.

Do you move one of the starting pitchers for outfield help? And if so who? The universe of trade candidates is limited to Garcia, Javier and Urquidy (no non-contender will of course want Odorizzi). Urquidy is the more expendable but will fetch less than Garcia or Javier.
