This deal says to me “Washington wanted the moon for Bell”
And/or the Astros thought they were more likely to extend Mancini than Bell.
Wouldn’t be surprising. Sellers seem to be raking in prospects.
Definition of out of gas.
Love it
We still need a backup catcher. Odorizzi’s comments about Lee yesterday aside, I’d like an experienced backup behind Maldonado.
Depending on the cost I’m happy with this
They are not prospects. Hope not Hunter Brown.
Trading Brown for a rental doesn’t seem like their style
I thinkI am too. I would have rather had Bell but I’ve always loved Mancini. Wanted us to trade for him each of the last two years. He can play left, right or first so I don’t necessarily see this as cutting Yuli’s time.
We need a catcher though and given what the Yankees have done today, I wouldn’t mind an arm too.
Let’s see how they feel tomorrow. I am underwhelmed so far but believe strongly in Click.
What a strange pick up. Seems to be a rental since his contract expires this year with an option for next year but it’s a mutual option so both parties have to agree. How is this any different thin Yuli in July?
He is not replacing Yuli.
Well, Mancini is only 30 where Yuli is 38. If I’m
Houston, I’m not resigning Gurriel at season’s end. Remains to be seen if I would want Mancini at first base for future seasons.
Right.
He’s mitigating Brantley’s absence.
I hope like hell Click is working his butt off still.
I really like what I’ve seen from Lee behind the plate. Maybe you want someone more experienced to backup Maldonado this season, but Lee looks like a keeper.
I’m assuming he is a DH and spot starter at first. His stats indicate a subpar fielder at first if I am reading them correctly. Much rather see Diaz at first when Yuli has a day off. I’m doubting that Click gave up anybody who would be a significant future contributor. I’m sorry Bell didn’t work out.
Not this year, imo. The Red Sox C works for me.
