The sci-fi TV thread

Apropos of nothing, Section 31 will now be a movie instead of a show, and I think that’s a good idea.

Geordi will reconfigure the dish emitters hit the Borg with a blast of HSV.

Mando was… fine.

But that finale needed more than fine to save that season.

It all felt very rushed at the end, which was frustrating given that a pointless side quest got its own entire episode. They could’ve nixed the whole Christopher Lloyd/rogue robot shit and spread the finale over three episodes.

Also, at the end there they broke the “show, don’t tell” rule with the farms etc. If only they had more time…

I love Giancarlo Esposito, and maybe Gus Fring’s quiet menacing aura was just in the back of my mind the whole time, but his overacting was a bit much. Don’t know why I thought of the shitty movie, but it reminded me of Raul Julia in Street Fighter

Overacting in a Star Wars property? Nah, never happens.

That it was that noticeable to me…yeah

Which one’s that from?

Another classic breakage of the “show, don’t tell” rule. You know that Portman has the acting chops to show that, but Lucas famously gave them one take to deliver their lines and then move on because he had to get to work on the true star of the movie - the CGI.

Sith.

Not a typo.

Picard finale:

Summary

It was… fine, I guess.

I think I’ve watched each of the 6 prequel/sequel movies exactly one time, so I didn’t really retain much and didn’t care to.

I watched TPM a few times, because it was new Star Wars. I have watched the 2nd & 3rd prequels and the 1st & 2nd sequels once each. I still haven’t watched Rise of Skywalker, although all the heavy retconning going on in The Mandalorian may force me to do so at some point.

I have watched Solo once, but I have watched Rogue One many times, although I typically skip to about the hour mark and watch it from when the Alliance meets and decides to run and hide.

Rogue One is, not counting New Hope because it’s just a thing of its own, the 2nd best Star Wars movie after Empire. Totally rewatchable as you said.

Also, before this season of Mando, I watched Book of Boba Fett again, and it was much more enjoyable the 2nd time, but I’m not sure why.

I agree on all fronts here.

Lowered expectations?

Agreed.

Spoiler

Suffered from The Mandalorian syndrome of too much plot being expended on setting up new franchises. At least we got some of the predictions right.

Speaking of new Trek:
