Just finished “Hawkeye”. It’s a solid addition to the MCU and, at only 6 hours, it’s not a huge time investment. It’s also a Christmas show, so have at it over the weekend!
One very cool moment was to see the blip from the perspective of a blippee.

Also, Florence Pugh as “Yelena” is always a win. She’s a bona fide nut.
I know it’s supposed to be satire but, even given the exaggerated scenario they created, it still felt far to real and present. Just more proof that we are living in the dystopian nightmare our forebears warned us about.
They also put up a cute little “documentary” about the origin and development of the character on Disney+. One of the Lucasfilm guys says, more or less, “the lack of a backstory is what made him cool.” Thirty seconds later, George Lucas starts talking about putting him in Episode 2.
To be fair, for Boba Fett, they did that in Ep 2. This is a resurrection story, that is all the rage. ‘Tis the season, after all.
I think the bigger issue is that Disney seems to be on a mission to plug every plot hole, no matter how small, and service every fanboy to completion, no matter how small. Sometimes…oftentimes…the minor flaws are what make art great.
Fan service is incredible when done properly (see “No Way Home”) (no, seriously, see it) but incredibly difficult and incredibly awful when done wrong.
I’m double vaxxed, boosted, I enema daily with half a tube of rosacea cream, I’m all set. But civic minded as I am, I’d rather not contribute to the problem if I can help it.
