ALW once said that his cat walked across his keyboard and erased everything he had written for Love Never Dies.
He should have listened to that sign from God.

The third story in “This American Life” from a couple weeks ago was really great. It was about the orchestra pit musicians in Phantom on Broadway, many of them who have been there for 20 to 30 years, playing the same music every. single. day.
The Long Road Up on AppleTV is good. Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman document their 3rd long motorcycle road trip together and first in 14 years. This time they travel on electric motorcycles from Tierra Del Fuego to California. A lot of beautiful scenery and several equipment issues.
Since this thread has become about anything except sci-fi:
The Queen’s Gambit on netflix does live up to the hype. Recommended.
We started the second season of the Mandalorian last night. It seemed a lot less epic, but a lot more like a television series that may stick around for a while. Kind of like Star Trek meets Star Wars. I liked it
Each episode has gotten better through the 2nd season so far.
I’m really enjoying it.
Second the rec for The Queen’s Gambit. Outstanding.
The Green Cross Code man passed away today at age 85.
Apparently he also had another role where he wore a fancy outfit and had his gentle West Country accent dubbed over.
Apparently Robert Rodriguez has some emotional baggage re: stormtroopers.
Wow.
As soon as I saw “Directed by” I thought to myself “yeah, that tracks.”
That was so satisfying.
I’m guessing that these posts are referencing a recent episode of The Mandalorian?
LALALALA CANT HEAR YOU HISING THIS THREAD UNTIL I CATCH UP
I hate Disney, but looking at the Star Wars & Marvel porn shows yesterday, I might have to relent and subscribe. I will self-flaggelate while watching, of course.
Does Disney have any policies preventing someone from subscribing for a month, cancelling, and then doing the same thing a year or so later?
I don’t believe so. They have a strategy though - for those of us without kids so who don’t need it 24/7 - which is to drip-feed a constant supply of new content so that you won’t be able to stay away.
If you can handle waiting (and avoid or not care about spoilers), you can jump in and out as often as you like; one month at a time.
The Mandalorian is the one thing I really, really want to watch as soon as this season is complete (and other than the existence of Baby Yoda, I have somehow managed to know virtually nothing about the show other than the general premise). The Marvel stuff I’ve enjoyed, but am not nearly as interested in.
Not sci-fi, but when does The Morning Show pick up again?
My understanding is they only got one episode of season 2 semi-finished before they suspended filming due to COVID. They have yet to resume production.
If you’re a cord cutter, the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ bundle is one of the best values out there.
