The opening farewell

That won’t happen today but I suppose could speculate on that and lob F bombs at each other over who the 26th man should be

That’s exactly what will happen if Crane doesn’t get the ballpark of what Correa will get elsewhere

Building on the point that Correa’s feelings are already known in the clubhouse: he is probably not unique in feeling like the team doesn’t value its players well enough. Especially under Luhnow, the player–front office relationship was not good, and that mindset didn’t vanish when Luhnow got himself canned. So while I think the players absolutely have each other’s backs, that probably means something different to them than it does to us on the outside. They might be supportive of Correa getting himself the fattest deal he can find, even in NY.

There is probably an awful lot of truth in this post.

Ok, course. That is always an option in a job if one wants more money. The salary/contract offer has nothing to do with respect. That is Macho Man talking, beating his chest shouting “Don’t you disrespect me!”

I had all the resume bells and whistles coming out of law school and a Fifth Circuit clerkship. I had plenty of options, but I went to the firm I wanted in the city I wanted. I could have made much more money in Dallas or Houston, but I was where and with whom I wanted to be. Respect for me had zero to do with any of that. Neither did more money elsewhere.

I doubt this emphatically.

I wonder where Correa would have chosen to be, had he had any say in the matter back in 2012.

Who knows. That is the benefit to me of lawyers not being drafted, I guess, but while I was marketable, I could have left more than once for more money. Where I was/who I was with was much more important to me than money. I do understand if Crane does not offer close to what Correa thinks he is worth.

I can’t even much think about CC’s future yet, focus on task at hand and all

If he leaves because it is not a fair offer, I will be madder than ever.

The two offers in spring were not fair offers.

I truly meant future offers. I know the spring offers weren’t fair.

I know, I’m just bracing myself for what Crane considers “fair”.

I just hope that Carlos has all that in the back of his mind right now and is focused on the remainder of this season. I think he is.

He sure hasn’t been playing like a man distracted.

He’s got personal reasons to being focused…

Some confuse respect with getting attention.
He may need to be prepared for the respect from his new contract turning to attention at times.

I had this exact experience (with the value of X substantially below what is being discussed here). Bye.

Yeah. There’s plenty of time in the offseason to bitch and moan and wring hands and read tea leaves. There’s still 2021 baseball to play.
