Laphonza Butler has been sworn in as Feinstein’s replacement. Aside from the historic nature of her elevation, I hope the few Bob Menendez hold-outs and agnostics were watching how quickly and easily this was done.
After Trump shit-posted about Judge Engoron’s clerk (of all people), he was hauled into a closed-door session with the judge, who told Trump to keep his staff’s names out of his mouth.
I would guess the over-under on his violation of the rule will be about 10 minutes after the hearing ends
The judge can throw him in jail for up to 30 days per violation. I suspect this judge would do it, too. If Trump does end up in jail, we might see the other judges revoke their pre-trial releases too, and he’ll be in jail from then until the end of his days.
McCarthy has already has 5 “yes” votes (for his ouster) from Republicans before we’ve even got through the Ds.
Can’t see him surviving this vote.
You hate to see it
6 GOP “yes” votes against McCarthy (now in the Gs). That should be it.
In official DC terminology, McCarthy lasted approximately 9 Scaramuccis.

Tweet from Andrea Junker:
Republicans should be forced to carry Kevin McCarthy to term, even if it endangers the life of the party.
Nancy Mace makes it 7 GOP votes against McCarthy.
The only cloud around this silver lining is that we will see Gaetz’ grinning vizog all over the TV.
McCarthy is horrible at his job So this is not terribly surprising. Although, the Democrats have an interesting conundrum. Do you want an opposing leader that is horrible at their job or one that is very good at generating a consolidated and coordinated republican front?
The GOP will not have anyone who will negotiate with the Dems, so this is moot.
McCarthy is now officially the first House Speaker in history to be removed.
What’s this in Trusses?
I’ll take Words That Don’t Make Sense Together for $200, please.
Well, McCarthy did negotiate with the Dems just this weekend, so there was that precedence and logic would dictate if he did it once, he could be coerced into doing it again. But that is moot now…
Yes, he did. And they canned him for it.
So, in the near future, the new Speaker will be in the exact situation McCarthy was in: shut down the government or be an adult and work with the Democrats. What is Gaetz going to do then?
Rinse. Repeat.
