I did for 7th and 8th grade. Then I got zoned over to Johnston for the 9th grade. I hated it initially but some of my best friends had to go there too, and I eventually made a bunch of new friends.
Thatâs weird. Fondren was the newer school. I wonder why theyâd change the zoning on kids and not grandfather in the ones who were already there. That just seems unnecessarily stupid.

Late 60s, early 70s. They were trying new stuff after years of inequality. They also bussed black kids from Stafford to Fondren. They made black teachers drive across town to teach at predominantly white schools and vice versa. It was a intricate effort, with good intentions, but questionable outcomes.
I was in San Antonio for most of high school and they started zoning kids to schools based on their addresses. But they did allowed kids in Hill Country Village and Hollywood Park (where I lived), to be grandfathered in to MacArthur if they chose to do so. More than a few kids did transfer to Churchill which was newer and closer.

Most of us reach our plateau earlier than this and can come to grips with it more or less in private. Other guys have been treated like gods their entire lives, and coming up one step short of the brass ring, in public, must a completely new thing for them.
Thereâs a reason why the Steelers, Panthers, Ravens, and Texans have all gotten rid of this clown in the last 10 months. Is it because heâs an insufferable asshole? YeahâŚyeah it is.
