Texans 2023

They’re playing awfully soft defense when a field goal beats you.

I’m also puzzled how someone who effectively scored a negative on an intelligence test can so consistently make correct reads and make good decisions.

Way too soft. That should do it.

There were rumors he sandbagged that test.

This zone that they’ve been playing all game is going to cost them a loss. I have no idea why they never made any adjustments.

So fucking disappointing. I feel like I’ve seen this recently.

Too many men on the field after a time out. Vintage Nexans.

Stroud did his job. The defense stomped their dicks.

I don’t know why you’d want people to think you’re stupid. Seems like there are plenty of daily opportunities to provide that sort of impression.

Defense still needs several years worth of work.

Very disappointing from Demeco.

He got schooled today. Hopefully it’s a lesson.

To close this loop…I read somewhere that the worst historical scores on those tests for a QB belong to Jim Kelly and Dan Marino. So, take that for what it’s worth. Stroud has shown he can excel at this level.

Those guys played in a different era. Maybe they’re morons, maybe they’re geniuses, I have no idea, don’t care. In today’s NFL a good quarterback knows with relative certainty where he’s going with the ball pre-snap. Not good quarterbacks don’t, and it’s brutally obvious.

I don’t know what kind of intelligence is needed to see what a defense is doing, see how they react to motion, synthesize that to know which of your guys is most likely to be open and when, but Stroud clearly has enough of those skills to be successful at the position at the highest level.

There’s also a lot of talk in academic circles that the S2 test (the one Stroud “failed”) that has sort of replaced the Wunderlich is complete bullshit with regards to football.

He’s getting rid of the ball too. The OL has played remarkably well, but Stroud is doing his part. Third game in a row without a sack, which is remarkable for this team. I can’t remember the last time they didn’t give up five a game. I thought it would be a problem again, but it just hasn’t.

At this point it’s meaningless. Stroud can play at a high level in the NFL. That’s all that matters.

I had a teacher in high school who told me to purposely miss every question on the final exam. Maybe the Texans told Stroud to do the same.

Stroud throws his first ever interception and the Texans score a touchdown on the very same drive. You don’t see that every day.

Technically not the same drive, but I wonder how many times a QB has had an INT and TD pass like that
