Listened to the Chandler Rome podcast and they talked about if Smith would break camp or not. They have no clue of course but what was interesting was the info about the Prospect Promotion Incentive that was included in the most recent CBA.
What was interesting is that if you qualify for this criteria, you can earn the team a draft pick by hitting one of the award milestones (win ROY, top 3 in Cy or MVP) before hitting arbitration.
By their calculations, if Hunter Brown hit top 3 in CY voting in the next two years, the Astros get a comp pick.
I’m trying to get acquainted with the team. I saw that Smith played right field today, but almost all of his minor league starts are at 3B. Looked up Paredes and he has very few outfield starts. If Smith makes the club, opening day or later, what’s the scuttlebutt on positions?
I’m glad Chandler started this podcast but I have a question for the locals. Who is Tyler Stafford and what does he do that he’s on the podcast with Rome?
“Tyler Stafford has previously written for The Battalion, Dallas Morning News and Astros County. Tyler also worked for the Associated Press and the Corpus Christi Hooks.”
I would love for LMJ to make a huge career comeback, and say “see…fuck you, HH from OWA”. But I wouldn’t bet the farm on it. That said…he says he’s feeling good. It would be a boost to get something out of him.
