I looked at the Fayetteville box score and our starter lasted 1/3 of an inning. He faced 8 batters and gave up 7 earned runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. No hbp. What happened to the other two batters who ended up scoring earned runs?
Just guessing but there must have been a fielder’s choice or two involved that did not result in an out (maybe trying to cut the runner down at home) and the next pitcher gave up a hit to clear the bases. In any event, that sounds like an ugly game.

I think that’s exactly what happened. Tried to get outs at the plate and didn’t.
That makes sense. I should have thought of that. Especially with the seven run inning. And the relief pitcher did give up a HR.
