M-V-P

Essentially, Altuve tried for a neighborhood play. Just never came close to touching the bag on the turn.

All wins are good wins.

But let’s get the defense back on track.

Might be Yordan’s throw and Machete’s tag.

Plus Yordan’s HR did give us that little extra breathing room for the 9th. Altuve’s error and Tucker’s 2x triple assists could have been disaster.

For sure the Yordan homer gave us breathing room in the 9th, and the Diaz homer was huge. Tucker’s ill-advised dive (and dumb with a 3-run lead) gave them a 9th inning run. What I meant was: without the throw and tag, it would have been 8-7 with Merrifield coming up and two out but still two on.

ETA: I just rewatched the highlight of the throw/tag play. Holy cow! That was not a shallow fly ball. Anyone who wants Contreras or another catcher should watch that play over and over. Defense matters a lot.

As sin as he seemed under it I thought “well that’s a run”.

Zero thought in my mind there’d be a play at the plate.
