Various folks have talked about checking out games. I’ve done a quick check of both teams’ schedules as well as looking at the map. So if (1) your schedule is flexible (2) you have 2 weeks to kill (3) you want to minimize the amount of driving you do and (4) you want to maximize the number of games of both clubs you see, then consider a couple of options:
-
Stay in Kannapolis beginning Jun 22. The Woodpeckers visit for 6 games. The following week starting Jun 29 the Tourists visit Hickory for 6 games. Hickory is an hour away from Kannapolis.
-
Stay in Kannapolis beginning Sep 7 when the Woodpeckers again visit for 6 games. The following week beginning Sep 14 the Tourists visit Winston-Salem for 6 games. W-S is just an hour away from Kannapolis.
Of course if you want to visit both teams in their home stadiums in back to back weeks you have plenty of opportunities throughout the season. And Asheville and Fayetteville are only about 4 hours away from one another. One suggestion:
- Head to Fayetteville on Aug 31 and watch the Peckers take on Augusta for 6 games. The following week in Asheville beginning Sep 7 the Tourists play Rome in a 6-game series. Both Rome and Augusta are Braves’ affiliates and Atlanta of course has one of the top farm systems in baseball.
