I just want to say that we are back safely.
And I’m deeply disappointed in each and every one of you.

Didn’t know you were on the road, you could have swung by for fajitas, chicken, shrimp and all the trimmings.
It took me several bbqs, but I’ve mastered the spicy margarita.
There are plenty of games left, and they are well in range as far as the standings go. However, more than any other recent years, there seems to be a lack of agreement between the front office and on field managment as to what ought to be done.
I may be reading too much between the lines, and maybe this is another case of Dusty being Dusty, but it seems Brown and Dusty weren’t of the same mind as to Diaz’s use.
You’re welcome. I’m sure the Twins wish they had Steer back instead of Mahle, who recently underwent Tommy John Surgery.
That article is about two weeks old. If you want to stir the pot, please post something more current.
Sorry, I was not meaning to stir the pot. I read it when it first came out and kept the thoughts to myself since there have been plenty of discussions here re: Dusty’s lineups and in-game decisions, and I didn’t have an opinion on Abreu other than hoping you were right.
However, I decided to post here in this discussion about concerns for how the season is going because the disconnect between the front office and the rest of team seems more of an issue this year.
I should have been more clear that the part about this article I thought most relevant to whether and how the team gets back on track is that they seemingly put a player on the roster without being on the same page as to his usage and developmental plan, and not the specifics on who should be in the lineup or catching at the time the article was first posted. Maybe I read too much into the line about Brown having to bring up concerns for Diaz’s development.
No, I think you are right about that. I imagine the GM, whoever he is, has concerns about Dusty’s lineups and player usage/development. Unless the GM wants to take over the manager’s role and prerogatives, he can do little more than make strong suggestions when they talk. We all have read about meddling owners who try to run the team on the field, but I am clueless about how often GMs try to do the same thing.
Every time I get pissed off about a lineup Dusty runs out there…I think about two things:
and
Stros won it all. Good enough for me.
I think about Jimy One M and “manager’s decision”
Brown inherited Dusty, and also was hired late so they have had less time together. Crane is also very happy with Dusty ( or was in November)
Dusty is also very set in his ways and won a power struggle about roster and lineups last year ( see Pena, Jeremy hitting 2nd). Winning the World Series sure isn’t going to motivate him to change.
I think if I were Brown I would tell him my ideas but not try to order him to do anything.
Bide his time, hope for another strong postseason and even WS win, then strongly try to convince him to retire and bring in his own guy for 2024.
I hope this is his approach
