Inning getting out of control in a hurry

And a stolen base.

He was dusting himself off as the ball was heading to the plate.

And there goes the lead

Having a “put away” pitch is a fun thing to have

And NOW Dusty decides to pull the plug.

This ump has missed the bottom of the zone all night.

It’s infuriating that a perfect, inning ending double play ball turned into a run producing hit because the Astros refuse to position the shortstop where the shortstop should be playing. They get everything they deserve behind this sort of bullshit.

The Athletic has a timely article on the decline in Astros defense this year. Seems that the new shift rules may have affected the Astros infield’s overall metrics, even if individual players are not worse. (Plus some of Dusty’s interesting choices of players to use.)

Halfway…new ball game. 4-4

Jeebus.

Double clutch then one hop the throw?

Thanks Abreu.

Get some runs now. Need a win tonight.

Except that individual players are noticeably worse.

I feel like individual players are worse.

Not a strike

Man, Tucker looks scared shitless up there.

Now everything is a strike.

Woof

I agree they look worse. However, Espada is interviewed in the article, and he, perhaps just defending his guys, said that “Individually, I haven’t seen any red flags,” (and cites some metrics that they don’t specify).

Did y’all just notice Wong? Ball hit the dirt and is supposed to be thrown out. Ump gave him a new ball but he threw the scuffed one back to Sale. Who struck out Chas on the next pitch. Sneaky.
