Rangers @ Diamondbacks top of the 9th, Rangers chasing 6-3.

Sewald in to close it out and gives up a long drive to RCF by Semien and Thomas (the CF) makes an spectacular diving catch for the first out.

Seager walks on 3-2.

Lowe takes low, Takes a FB on the inside corner, 1-1. Fouled back, 1-2. Takes just upstairs, 2-2. Just inside, 3-2. Grooves a fastball, singles to right. 2 on, 1 out.

Fuckface Garcia up, all of the IF meet on the mound before the AB starts. Garcia is 0-4 on the evening. Huge swing and miss off the inside corner, 0-1. Drilled to RF, hit too hard to get a run home. Bases juiced, 1 out. Strommy on the way out to tell Sewald to stop throwing fucking slop.

Mitch Garver up with the bases juiced and 1 out. Garver homered earlier in the night off of Gallen, and is 2-4 on the evening. 6-3 D-backs. Fouled back a slider, 0-1. Fouled back another slider, 0-2. Both of those pitches have gotten a LOT of the zone. Punched foul down the RF line and out of play. D-backs have action in their pen. 0-2 pitch way outside, 1-2. Chopped foul, still 1-2. 26 pitches fouled tonight after 14 last night. Swings over a sweeper at the shins, ponche! 2 outs!

Jankowski, 1-4 on the evening up with the bases juiced and 2 outs. Takes a FB on the inside corner, 0-1. Copped to 3rd, fires to first, 6-3, BALLGAME!

Rangers lose, 6-3! Houston .5 games back in the AL West!

My Rangers fan good friend called me yesterday, despondent because his team is in a tailspin and not doing anything well. He is a longtime (my PONY League coach) dear friend, but he got no sympathy from me.

I’ve never participated in a pro mound visit but I’d love it if this were exactly what a pitching coach says.

A frequent comment in the ones I have participated in is “Throw strikes.” The pitcher invariably thinks “What the fuck do you think I am trying to do?”

I assume that the Astros pitching coach just reads the latest posts from the GZ.

Clearly an advantage for Houston pitchers to have us in their corner.

Now picturing Mark’s all caps rants repeated verbatim on the mound.

the corollary being “I meant to throw a strike, I didn’t mean to hit the bat with it”

Yall need to ask Belisle about the best mound visits he ever got

I can tell you about one if you want to know. Versus CC Calallen in the regional final.

“I don’t know what the fuck you’re doing out here, but fucking stop it right now.”

Pitching advice I’ve heard on the mound?

“There are two bulls, a young one and an older one, standing on a hill looking down at field of cows. The young bull says ‘whaddya say we run down this hill and fuck one of those cows?’ The older bull thinks for a second and says 'nah…how about we walk down this hill and fuck ‘em all’. Slow down, son”

I heard that from my granddad, I was about 10 years old

Was he a pitching coach too?

No, but we were on a hill

First time I heard that one, it wasn’t bulls going down the hill.

Colloquialisms have been around in many forms for many years. I’m sure there are there that could be translated to pitching advice.

Summary:
Cora was saying JV was shaking off pitches and invented the pitch com problem when the clock got low.

JV said he wasn’t shaking off.

Cora said “Go pitch”

JV told Alex to fuck off.

The commentor here pointed out the irony of Alex Cora making arguments about the use of pitch com.
