Technically, that’s what happened. But the full description goes more like this: Caratini hits a hard ground ball to the 2nd baseman’s left, who botches the play. The ball rolls out into RF, the 2nd baseman scrambles after it, grabs it, spins, and whips it to 1st. And gets Caratini. By more than a step.
