Rays @ Astros, September 30, 2021

LMJ is the man come game 1. He’s earned it this season. It’s nice to see what he can do when he’s able to get more than 25 starts in a season.

That extension looks damned good so far.

Wouldn’t be the Astros if they didn’t make us pucker up out cornholes

Fitting way to win the AL West; on a Yuli pick in the dirt. He’s been nails there all season.

Yuli is an underrated superstar. I was interested in his interview by Julia during which he said this year for the first time he understands how to play first base.

I have not seen his play on Cruz in the 9th on a highlight reel yet, but he was perfectly positioned to get the hard ground ball. Good hitting by Cruz to go the other way foiled by Yuli’s game-saving play.

That’s called shooting the boot in Rugby, a time honored tradition for when someone scores their first try (the equivalent of a touchdown for you American Football yokels). Generally, the beverage of choice isn’t limited to Champagne…

I think we’ve got some room to maneuver here.

I may have to step it up come the Postseason. But Malbec is a good sittin’ around the back porch watching the ball game kind of wine. At least for us catchers. Maybe if you’re a pretty-boy shortstop or something you need a little more sparkle.

Bregman called it a “shooie” last night.

Watch the highlight and notice Bregman made a beeline to Yuli and put his arm around him. Kept it there as they walked to the head of the handshake line.

He knew Yuli saved his bacon.

That was gross.

I’m telling myself that must’ve been an unworn shoe just to keep from hurling.

He said they used new shoes.

Regardless, what a disgusting tradition. I may be biased. I have the 180º opposite of a foot fetish.

At least feet are easily washed. Shoes are just gross.

Two things I will never buy used or “vintage”: shoes and hats.

How much more popular would bowling be if you didn’t have to borrow shoes?

Saw that. Wonder if it’s some sort of time honored tradition in baseball as well.

And shooting the boot did not involve new, unused footwear.

Quoting Aussie F1 star, Daniel Ricciardo. And no, he does not use new shoes.
