Rays @ Astros, August 4, 2024

This offense really needs to figure out how to score some runs. Can’t say they didn’t have their chances.

Swept. Painful watching this team.

I don’t think I’m up to watching the post-game report

Astros pitchers scatter six hits, strike out 15…and they were never in the game. Yes, it’s sad.

This game was lost in the 1st inning when Pena flat out REFUSED to take the RBI walk that was being gifted.

4 runs over 3 games ain’t gonna get much done. Holy shit that was inept

This game was over when the umpire yelled “play ball”.

It may be time for Espada to make a “Win one for the Tucker” speech.

Astros won game 1

Oops you are correct. Forgot that we broke the tie and won that one after Kikuchi came out of the game.

Offense is just not good right now. May have to take a chance on Dezenzo down the line. And maybe keep running Leon out there for a while to see what happens.

ETA: Could also be Whitcomb. He’s catching fire again.

Desperation is a stinky cologne.

I’m pretty sure our scent lingers in the room long after we have left it.

Its intersting that Whitcomb played his first ever game at 1b Saturday.

At least his 1st pro game there.

Loperfido played 59 games at 1b in the minors and Espada still would t play him there.

He was also a left handed bat…unlike Whitcomb and Dezenzo.

Dana Brown said in an interview that Whitcomb and/or Dezenzo could be an answer at 1b if the production doesn’t improve.

I expect it to be Whitcomb, as he must he added to the 40 man this winter anyway and has over 800 PAs in AAA.

Dezenzo doesn’t need to be added until after next year and is just starting his AAA experience.

Though if 1b and LF continues as it is, I would not mind seeing both of them up.

Probably lots of growing pains but its not like they would be replacing even average hitters and it would be a preview of the future Astros.

I still don’t get the handwringing over Loperfido not playing 1B. The Astros said flat out, “he’s an outfielder, a good one, and we want him in the outfield, not 1B”. Do you think his lack of plate discipline, the giant hole in his bat, and his lack of power are because he was playing LF rather than 1B?

A lefthanded bat that can’t make contact isn’t particularly advantageous.

I’m saying if they wouldn’t try out the guy with 59 games there, they’re not going to try out the guy with one game
