I’m saying it depends on the guy. The Astros liked Loperfido in the outfield (for good reason, I might add). Don’t know how they feel about Whitcomb’s glove, but I wouldn’t necessarily assume that the situations are exactly the same.

Correct, and as MM actually posted above, the club has to be getting desperate for help on offense. Right now, the three guys that seem to be playing musical chairs in the OF and at 1B are McCormick (.593 OPS), Dubon (.664 OPS) and Singleton (.667 OPS). Maybe it’s time to give guys like Leon, Whitcomb or Dezenzo a try. They could fail miserably of course…but one could also come in and set the world on fire for a few weeks before the league figures them out. Confidence is a powerful drug and right now Dezenzo especially, but also Whitcomb should have quite a bit of it.

Experts have long thought that Dezenzo might end up at 1B, but I do get a kick out of posters here who have just learned his name and want him in the lineup next week.
