Rangers at Astros, 9/26/25

Blubaugh with 3 IP scoreless, 7 K, and will give way to Gordon.

Astros get 1 in the bottom of the 1st on an Altuve SF, threatening in B3 with Pena on third, Correa on second and 1 out after Altuve bunted them over. Walker up to try to cash in.

Walker grounds on the 3b line, snagged by Jung but the 5-3 scores Pena.

2-0 Astros

Cole with a frozen rope to CF but it is tracked down to end the inning.

Gordon showed absolutely no interest in fielding that bunt.

I don’t have any idea why he thought Correa had it.

Fortunately he gets through the rest unscathed.

B4:

Jake dumps a single into LF
Caratini laces a single past the 3b, Jake stops at second
Yainer doubles to the LF, Astros 3-0! Caratini stops at third.

Not sure I would have taken Blubaugh out just yet. He was pitching very well.

He’s not stretched out

Jesus appears to have a whole damn iPad in his back pocket

They’re not gonna let him go another time through the order.

Sanchez with a 2-run knock!

B4 cont’d:

Infield pulled in, Jesus singles right where the 2b would have been and both runners score!

5-0 Astros

B4, still ongoing:

Perfect run and hit gets Pena a single past the 2b covering the bag, Sanchez to third

That’s all for Kelly

His three fastest fast balls of the night were in that last at bat. 95, 96 and 97 mph. He was emptying the tank.

B4:

Cole Winn in for Texas, amazingly not a NASCAR driver name
Correa strikes out looking at the bottom of the zone. (One of the first calls HPU has gotten right)
Tuve tomohawks a single to LF, Pena to 2b

6-0 Astros!

Still B4, one out:

Walker lines one to 2b, Pena for some reason thought it would get through, and is easily doubled up.

End 4, 6-0 good guys.

A homer, a walk, thankfully in that order, and a steal and the Rangers have a man on 2nd with two outs and a run in.

Burger flips a grounder to Pena for the 3rd out. 6-1 Astros after 4.5.

T5, Gordon continues:

Helman strikes out swinging
Freeman fouling off several than gets one on a tee to make it 6-1
Gordon elevates another one but Smith only puts it on the RF warning track for out 2
Langford walks on a pitch above his knees called low
Miller out, “try to not suck, kid”
Langford stealing second you know how that turns out
Burger grounds to short, Walker somehow grows to 7’3” to catch the throw and end the inning

Halfway through, 6-1 Astros
