It’s the layer of iridium found in rocks around the world that marks the arrival of the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.

Like most of my references, it has no relevance.

More specifically, the K-T boundary is a geologic signature that marks the end of the Cretaceous Period (the last period of the Mesozoic Era) and the beginning of what was once called the Tertiary Period (the first period of the Cenozoic Era). The latter is now called the Paleogene Period, and the boundary is referred to as the “K-Pg Boundary”.

The boundary is defined by mass, rapid, and diverse biological extinction, and is commonly known as the end of the dinosaurs, though many species also disappeared at the time. This gave rise to the dominance of mammals as the primary large terrestrial fauna. There is also the subsequent discovery of the aforementioned iridium layer at the boundary, which was then suggested as evidence of a massive extraterrestrial impact event. The discovery of the Chicxulub crater in the Yucatán in 1990 confirmed a massive impact at or around the the K-T Boundary. It’s pretty well accepted that this impact was at least partially responsible for the extinction event, and thus in establishing the K-T Boundary.

And Kyle Tucker’s initials are “K T”.
