Race for the Lid 2023 – The Year of Rule Changes

  1. Craig is the official scorekeeper. Note that I have removed the title “Judge” from myself.

  2. Pick the number of Astros wins, starting Opening Day 2023, through the end of the regular season. (I thought about adding a test rule here for the postseason, but decided that was presumptuous so that rule change was voted down by Me.)

  3. All picks are in this thread. (Also, look, I’m going to be busy AF Thursday morning and won’t be here to watch the thread, so be sure you aren’t double-picking someone else’s number.)

  4. One pick per person. If multiple picks, Craig determines which poster gets the pick, but it will surely be the earlier one. If the picks are simultaneous then I don’t know. I’ll ask the robot umpire.

  5. The grand prize is an Astros cap of Craig’s choosing from the Astros store. I should give a literal tip of the cap here to PCOL2000, the 2021 winner, who awarded me a sweet-ass 2022 World Series Champions cap.

  6. NO PICKS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL THE OFFICIAL COMMENCEMENT TIME of 10 a.m. Central, March 30, OPENING DAY for the World Champions.

  2. NEW TEST RULE CHANGE FOR 2023 ONLY – As reigning champion Craig is also allowed to pick this year, but only after everyone else has picked. (I’m not really trying to win because I would just be buying myself another hat. I just strongly feel that this year there should be a chance for a repeat Championship.)
