Punishments are official

If the current players are pledged to minimal input due to a non-disclosure agreement, then they have no business talking at length. The administration needs to step up if that’s the case

Respectfully, I disagree. All they have to do was follow AJ’s, Martin’s and Keuchel’s lead. They have one last chance to do this in the locker room. I hope they do so.

Things seem to be going a lot better in the clubhouse. Springer gave a good brief interview and sounded sincere and answered some questions. Hopefully they salvaged this.

I am not able to catch the interview. Would you mind recapping what Springer said?

Carlos Correa with some very firm denials and a verbal timeline of events.

I hate Matt Vaagecursing almost as much as that “High Heat” spastic bastard.

I don’t think current or former Astros owe anyone shit. If I were in charge I would instruct the players to say that the league investigated, came to a conclusion, issued punishments and that’s all there is to it.

The players all have very real, very contrite responses in the clubhouse.

But Crane set the tone with his “I don’t think I should be held responsible” bullshit.

RTB, I have no idea who you are, but you are coming across like a wuss too. Fuck trying to appease or to satisfy the critics. Fuck the entitled Dodgers. Fuck the Yankees. Fuck contrition. They did what they did, and all the big boys were doing it too. Accept the punishment without whining, and move on. Do not forget the unfairness and the venom, though, and get even on the field.

I completely agree with chuck.

Crane is an ass, go read up on all his businesses prior to the Astros, it’s what almost kept him from owning the team and 100% was used as leverage for the AL move.

That’s why he is claiming no knowledge, the league with the CBA coming up can’t do anything to the players… an owner on the other hand.

I haven’t wanted an apology ever. Other fans are butt hurt they lost to the Astros and are looking for an excuse as to why their team sucked.

I don’t give a shit, all the Astros can do is play baseball and win the whole fucking thing!!!

A press conference is a dumb way to deliver an apology. AJ was good at coming across as genuine and thoughtful in pressers, but that skill is rare. They should have just opened the clubhouse and let the players talk.

I’m also clinging to the hope that at some point we’ll get a Q&A like:
Q: George, why did you guys bang a trash can, why were you so obvious about it?
A: Well, Beltran said when they were using this system with the Yankees, sometimes it was hard to tell whether the signal was coming from the dugout or just a loud fan, so…

You think time is going to run out on this? Hell, I think the over/under for when the Astros stop getting daily questions about this is probably something like 40 games into the season. And after that, they’ll still get shitty post-game questions from professional reporters like “how did you know that pitch was coming” whenever there’s a clutch, game-winning hit.

What I wish Crane would have said when asked if the sign stealing impacted the World Series.
Crane: I think it is naive of the press to assume we were the only team to employee sign stealing.
Press: Would you care to expand on that?
Crane: Do your fucking job.

This is what Altuve said at fanfest when asked about the buzzer incident: “I wasn’t upset to be honest, even though we all know it wasn’t true,” he said. “We all know that some people made that up. The best thing that happened to me was that MLB investigated that and they didn’t find something.”

He added: “That’s ridiculous…MLB did their investigation. They didn’t find anything.”

This is what Carlos Correa said today: “That’s a lie. Nobody wore buzzers. Nobody wore devices,” Carlos Correa said. “That story should be killed already. We know for sure, for a fact, 100 percent as a team.”

Agree with this completely.

My advice to Astros fans is to embrace the villainy.

If the league actually conducts a thorough, earnest review of allegations made that other teams including the Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers, etc. were in engaged in the same activity and finds nothing, then perhaps I would change my stance. However, I have no expectation of that happening.

I attended Super Bowl LI between the Patriots and Falcons. No one would ever describe me as a Pats fan, quite the contrary, actually. If you’ll recall, this game played after a season in the wake of Delfategate and/or Spygate – really it’s difficult to keep up with all the Pats various infractions. Nonetheless, I have to say that I was truly impressed by the Pats fans’ response during the postgame trophy ceremony. One might assume they were overcome with joy or elation after the historic comeback. Perhaps that was the case, but the manifestation of whatever emotions they were feeling at the time was unbridled, stentorian booing of Roger Goodell. The booing was so loud that I couldn’t hear a single word that came out of Roger Goodell’s mouth during the entire ceremony. The confetti was still streaming down and all that anyone in the stadium could possibly hear were boos.

All I want this season is for the Astros to fucking rake and to watch Rob Manfred hand the Astros a trophy while having no fucking clue or ability to hear whatever pointless drivel is coming out of his mouth.

Any ideas on what umps will do differently calling pitches this year? They could make or break games when we’re batting. They evidently never did anything previously

I am with Mark on the umps. They may be bad, but they are not going to go after the Astros.
