I can totally understand why the NYY internet sleuths were so confused from that picture of Josh Reddick after the ALCS; no Yankee fan since 2009 would know what (1) jewelry or (2) confetti looks like.
2017 World Champs
2019 AL Champs
Eat a dick, Yanks fans.
Clevinger says it is “worse than steroids.” Fuck him.
…“but not as bad as my haircut.”
I don’t fucking get it.
MLB told players and teams not to comment on this, and yet here we are on Day Whatever of Clevinger, Bauer, Sabathia, and any number of other losers popping off to the press.
Just to top off this amazing day… now Twitter is blowing up over reports of Mike Trout juicing…
Don’t forget 2015 WC champs. Getting bounced three times in five years must really stick in their craw.
It does.
I guess there’s just one thing left to do this season.
Win the whole. Fuckin’. Thing.
I’m a fine with a us vs the world mentality. I’ve always been kind of a defiant sum bitch with a contrarian’s nature. If you’re not with us, you’re against us. So fuck them all.
It is so wonderful to see this site up and running even to the old school baseball movie quotes. It was sad for a while when the site was almost silent. No, I am not happy how the juices got to flowing but erupt they did and now people are talking…just waiting for some good old fashioned head butting and disagreements…
Reddick’s photo is laughable given his ws performance. He needed a seeing eye dog, not a wireless relay
The Reddick photo has since been debunked as a piece of confetti stuck to his gold chain (pictures from other angles show it more clearly). The Altuve photos are random… basically every time his jersey bunches and wrinkles near the right shoulder (where the buzzers were allegedly worn).
In other news, if somebody was using a buzzer, would it even be detectable through a jersey, especially as loose as modern jerseys are and with all the stuff players wear under their uniforms now… bandages, wraps, braces, tights, compression pants, performance tape, etc… that could be used to cover it? For reference, the picture below is the radio earpiece used in NFL helmets. It’s a lot more complex than a simple buzzer (it has to receive and play encrypted audio signals) and bulkier, to stand up to NFL play (it’s probably got lots of padding, to protect itself and protect the player from injury when it gets jammed into the side of his head on a hard hit). You could conceivably make a device that just has to receive a signal and vibrate (no audio, no transmission, no display, no data storage) much smaller than that. And if you’re worried about it being exposed, you’d wear it under your pants (very, very unlikely those ever get torn off in a celebration or on-field mishap).
Channel 2 here in Houston aired a segment tonight where they played their interview of Reddick during that celebration, and it’s during their interview where Reddick notices the confetti and picks it. It’s crystal clear. Not that butthurt Yankee fans care. Jomboy was on YESNetwork tonight and his take was “yeah, someone said it was confetti, but I don’t think there was any confetti that night (despite the internet being awash with images of the Astros being drowned in blue and gold confetti on the field) given what we know, we can never be sure.” Only if you’re a complete fucking idiot can you never be sure.
My suggestion is just get used to this. It is never going away. Embrace it. They’ll get my replica ring when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.
Jomboy pushed the wire angle the day the Athletic article appeared. MLB is following the lead of a twitter user with an admitted agenda. Kenasaw Mountain Landis was commissioner in the wrong decade. Imagine if he had Twitter in the cacophony which was MLB back then.
Damn straight, HH.
To paraphrase the immortal words of that leader, “We’re surrounded by assholes!”
Selective Enforcement. It’s good to see you post, BTW…
McCullers responded that Clevinger wasn’t so worried about cheating when he was cheating on his wife.
Holy crap. Lance is bringing it.
Get him, Lance.
Lance is a good dude. His parents did a good job with him. He may have had a privileged childhood but he Is not an entitled jerk.
