It seems inevitable that Arsenal will score another goal or two (they trail 2-1 as I write this), but would be hilarious if they don’t.
It’s even more hilarious than that.
Ha ha, the soccer gods had their way with all of us there.
Great run from Arsenal this year, but in the end City is just much better than everyone in the league. This is starting to get the feel of Bayern and the Bundesliga where one team just wins every single year. At least Arsenal finally saw the return of St Tottenham Day
Wrexham tied at 1-1 at the half. Win and they are promoted, draw or lose and they have to win on the road next week to move up.
Shouldn’t this be spoilers?
I do like the Welcome to Wrexham show, mostly all of the interaction with the locals.
It’s live sports. There has already been several posts about how they are doing in this thread. It’s gonna be all over tv/social media if they get promoted.
At just 21 minutes:
Newcastle 5, Tottenham 0
That was pretty jarring. Pouring coffee “oh yeah, Tottenham is on, holy shit!”
I didn’t know it was possible to score five goals in twenty minutes.
It shouldn’t be.
Lloris was subbed at halftime. Apparently he put his back out with all that bending over to pick the ball out of the net.
I just turned it on, figuring I would catch the second half. I was surprised, but not completely so. Spurs are so inconsistent. How they’re still in 5th place is a mystery.
When a team puts up a performance as miserable as this, it ought to be possible to deduct points from their total. Zero points from this feels like a reward.
… and may God have mercy on their souls.
LOL Spurs. You love to see it.
Beware the skieds of March
It’s going to be quite the season finale.
Why is Pochettino considered such a great get? I find it hard to believe that he’ll pull Chelsea out of their malaise.
I’m not sure anyone can pull Chelsea out of their malaise. They have structural financial issues - in no small part due to an undersized stadium that they cannot do anything with - and a novice owner who cannot stop himself from tinkering.
They’re not going to go bankrupt or anything truly catastrophic like that, but they’re going to be replaced by Newcastle in the “Big 6” (you could make a case that this has happened already) and European football is going to become a rare treat rather than a perennial expectation.
Let’s not forget that Chelsea’s heyday was far in the rearview mirror before Abramovich came along and literally bought a winning team. He was pumping £100,000 a month into the club; every month throughout his near 20-year tenure as owner. Without being constantly juiced like that, they’re going to revert to being a mid-market team, occasionally challenging for a European spot and occasionally flirting with relegation.
I can believe Fertitta would hire a problematic coach. Shocked, I say.
