The Buffalo Braves/Boston Celtics swap was interesting in that the franchises, as in the legal entities, actually moved, as did the financial commitments of each franchise. They swapped players, coaches, names, cities, etc, so it appeared that only the Braves moved, but legal successor to the Buffalo Braves is the Boston Celtics and the Celtics are the Clippers. I read one story about a retired Celtics player, Dave Cowens maybe?, was owed some deferred money or retirement or something from his days playing for the Celtics, but the Clippers were the team that actually had to pay him and send him the check.
I believe the Irsays are as loved in Baltimore as Bud Adams in Houston.
More interesting tidbits on Rosenbloom/Irsay…
Hugh Culverhouse, a wealthy tax attorney from Florida, had a deal in place to buy the Rams at the time. At the last minute before announcing the sale, Jim Irsay swooped in and snaked the team from him, and immediately, as in the same day, swapped with Rosenbloom. Culverhouse was pissed and filed lawsuits against the NFL. The irony was that Culverhouse and Rosenbloom were good buddies. To settle the matter, the NFL agreed to give one of the next expansion franchises to Culverhouse. He was offered the team in Seattle, but said it was too far from where he lived in Florida, and after the deal for the Tampa Bay franchise fell through, Culverhouse was awarded that one. Culverhouse continued his personal and business dealings with Rosenbloom, leading to all kinds of conflict-of-interest claims. Culverhouse was executor of Rosenbloom’s estate, and there was even innuendo of him having an affair with Rosenbloom’s widow, Georgia.
The 70s were interesting times.

If you recognize the stand on the opposite side to the camera, that’s because it’s still there.
Just remembered the Texas HS football championship games are on tv Fri/Sat, if anyone’s interested.
Wimberly getting pounded by Carthage so far.
Fugly.
Been pretty ho-hum so far (but some good ball by one side) with mostly blowouts. The exception being the Franklin/Brock contest which was won on the last play FG.
My mom’s alma mater lost yesterday afternoon. But who would have thought Poth, TX would have a football team go to state. Not me.
Johnson City, my mom’s, won the 1A baseball title about a decade ago. It was a Big Deal.
and were on Wed and Thurs. I love watching 6-man FB.
Yep, I had stuff going on and completely forgot about it.
Fox Sports SW/Bally’s has been good in the past about replaying the games, I’ll try to catch a couple of the better ones I missed.

If you’ve ever wondered what a “wicked” googlie actually is…
Also a text book example of being out LBW, ie “leg before wicket”, where you miss the ball with the bat and it hits your body when it would otherwise have hit the wicket.
Is there any special term for getting hit above the pad (besides the obvious “owie”)? Looked like that guy got it on the thigh.
Nope. Although he was probably wearing a thigh pad too. The nature of cricket - with six pitches from one guy and then six pitches from another, alternating back and forth - is that you could be seeing this guy flipping 60mph spinning tops and the other guy slinging it at you at 95mph.
Traditional cricket protection is just pads and gloves. I used to wear a thigh pad, mostly because I missed the ball so often. They cover up pretty well at this level though, by necessity, with thigh and chest pads plus a helmet with a face guard.
That’s a strike, right?
Basically, yes. It used to be the umpire’s call, but now they use technology to predict the ball flight had it not been impeded. And it’s one strike and you’re out.
What’s the question that you ask to get the “strike” call? How about that, sir? or something along those lines?
“Oi!…where the fuck was that one?”
