I wonder what will become of the Frost Bank Center? Maybe the rodeo stays.
I just want the Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum to keep getting used.
I saw Black Oak Arkansas at the Joe Freeman Coliseum back in the mid 70s. The worst acoustics of any venue I’ve ever been in. So much echo it sounded like three bands.
ETA: and Doug Kershaw opened the show.
Is that the old concrete place? I went to a Spurs game there once and it took hours for my hearing to return to normal. I can’t imagine listening to someone like Black Oak Arkansas there.
It’s the ancient arena next to Frost Bank Center. The Spurs played at Hemisfair Arena before they moved to the Alamo Dome.
When I was in high school (MacArthur) most of the concerts were at the Municipal Auditorium, now known, after extensive remodeling, as the Tobin Center. I saw so many good shows there. I think it is also why I’m almost deaf in my left ear. The only concert I remember at the Hemisfair Area was Jethro Tull and I remember them being and sounding great. Typically, a really good sound engineer can make a tremendous difference, regardless of the venue.
The Hemisphere Arena was a great basketball venue. The Half Of The Alamodome was so soulless in comparison.
I’m sure you know this, but eye black only works if you’re also wearing a hat. It absorbs reflected light, not direct light.
I remember a group of rambunctious ham and egger type season ticket holders known as the Baseline Bums at Hemisfair Arena. They unleashed a constant barrage of humorous putdowns on the opponents. Every other team in the league hated those guys.
Apparently they had a mic on me at the final whistle.
TIL that Ego Nwodim is Eberechi Eze’s cousin.
Consuming content like crazy, the major Palace podcast “Five Year Plan” does a bit where they rank the top 3 performers in every game. Henderson was a shoo-in for #1 but, with epic performances from the entire team, Chris Richards was the unanimous #2. He put Haaland in his pocket for 100 minutes.
Also, he started the move that resulted in the goal. He collected the ball deep - almost at the touchline - and invited a press from City. And he waited. The press came and he lofted a pass to the feet of Mateta, where only Mateta could corral it, bypassing almost the entire City team. That was a training ground move and the team executed it perfectly, with Richards pulling the trigger.
He is the only squad member to play every minute of the entire FA Cup campaign.
Not for a bond lawyer. It’s the height of civilization.
How many times a day do you suppose Mo Salah has to shave?
I wonder if Richards’s hair gives him a softer touch on headers?
1.3 Altuves.
An Altuve.vs Salah beard-growing contest could probably be judged in real time.
The ad boards in this Liverpool@Brighton match keep running ads to visit Kissimmee. Is that really an effective use of those advertising dollars? Are Brighton fans itching to travel to central Florida?
