It was well done, but Branagh was still stage acting when only inches from the camera, which is only ok if you’re Brian Blessed. Everyone else comes off as trying too hard.

What I loved about Branagh’s adaptation was it felt it was just as much of a movie as it was a play - i.e. I wasn’t bothered by the stage acting as you might’ve been.
And if you want to be overwhelmed by actors inches from the camera, watch Billy Bob Thornton’s adaptation of All the Pretty Horses.
