This team needs to score more than 1 run in 9 innings. It never should have gotten to the 10th.
Dusty has to PH for Maldy leading off the bottom of the 8th inning of a tie game. I think Dubon is the move, with Salazar replacing Chas for the 9th.
Then if he gets on, there is a good baserunner on base with Chas, Altuve, and Bregman due up to break the tie.
Once Diaz tied the game, Meyers needs to hit, saving Dubon, because a single doesn’t win it. At that point an extra base hit or multiple hits are needed.
This team needs an offensive spark.
Its nice that Dusty is using Diaz more but what purpose does Julks serve? He is 19% below MLB average offensively and just had to be pinch hit for when the game was on the line. Why would you have a DH that is that poor of a hitter?
You just hit for Maldy. Who’s left?
ETA: IMO, the bigger problem was Altuve and Bregman whiffing with a runner on second in the 8th.
