Nats at Astros, June 14, 2023

Not reviewable. Astros caught a break.

Or with 5 infielders

If that had happened to us, I’d be pissed.

Let’s never speak of this again

A win is a win. I’ll take it, no matter how ugly the top of the ninth inning was.

Yeah, that was textbook runner interference, everyday and twice on Sundays. Big break there.

Meyers had 3 center cut FB’s to pop into the outfield for the sac fly. And instead, he grounds into the win. Baseball!

Pressly gives up three runs and gets the win. Framber should punch him in the dick.

I’m sure Lindsay at Close Call Sports will have a breakdown on that last play soon. She hates that rule, but it pops up regularly.

Pressly is buying a lot of drinks tonight.

Watching the replay on that last play, the Nats had an easy 6-8-3 double play if they don’t come home.

I don’t know: the SS was already in pretty far and charged in to the ball. He would have had to make a big turn to get it back to 2nd.

It certainly got called the last time I remember that play coming up against the Nationals

The SS fielded the ball. They were playing with five infielders. The centerfielder was almost standing on 2B.

Thanks for posting that.

I love the way Imber breaks these down.

That’s a tough call for the HPU because he has to make the safe call at home and is not able to watch the runner the whole time to determine if he was ever in the base path or not. The first base ump has to help out and apparently didn’t, couldn’t, or wouldn’t.

I also think Washington could have had the 6-4-3. So, fuck them.

After watching that breakdown, that play was closer at first than I originally thought, and I’m wondering if the umps were saying that Meyers beat the throw so that interference was moot.
