My favorite story about the making of The Big Lebowski is the Cohen brothers trying to secure the rights to Townes Van Zandt’s cover of Dead Flowers. The story goes that when they contacted the Rolling Stones, the Stones, or their rep, didn’t want to do it. To convince them, the Cohen brothers arranged a screening of the film. When it gets to the part where the Dude is in the cab, long before Dead Flowers plays at the end of the film, and the Dude says “I hate the fucking Eagles, man”, the Stones rep jumps up and says “ok, you can have the song”.

I’m a huge INXS fan since the age of 12, always sad I never got to see them live, and just got this limited edition LP from Rhino records the other day that was put out in February.
I have a bad feeling this may kick off LP collecting

I assume someone is breaking out the violin bow for the electric guitar.
Maybe during, Whole Lotta Love, the violinists will use guitar picks instead of bows.

Only when the levee breaks
So the Led Zeppelin tribute was pretty fun. They opened with The Song Remains the Same, then played All of My Love, Black Dog, Over the Hills and Far Away, Misty Mountain Hop, D’yer Maker, Fool in the Rain, and ended the first set with Kashmir. After intermission they opened with Immigrant Song, Good Times Bad Times, Ramble On, The Ocean, and then a very spirited rendition of Stairway to Heaven, and finally Whole Lotta Love. They did an encore of Communication Breakdown and ended the whole night with Rock and Roll. They did not play a few of my favorites such as When the Levee Breaks, Hey Hey What Can I Do, Houses of the Holy, or alas, what just might be my favorite Zeppelin song, In the Evening. But it was fun.
